08 Feb Greater New Haven districts close schools under threat of snow, slippery roads
In anticipation of Tuesday’s snowstorm, multiple towns have closed their public schools for the day.
NBC CT reports Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Seymour, Shelton, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge public schools are closed.
The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in effect for all of Connecticut from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The NWS said total snow accumulations is predicted for up to 2 inches, with localized amounts up to 5 inches across the extreme northern portions of New Haven County.
With snow and ice resulting in difficult traveling conditions, the NWS reminds motorists to prepare for reduced visibility and slippery roads.
Metro-North said on Twitter customers should anticipate possible delays due to inclement weather in our service area. Customers should also use caution when entering and exiting trains, on platforms and staircases.
